Chesapeake (Amtrak) : ウィキペディア英語版 | Chesapeake (train)
The ''Chesapeake'' was a daily passenger train operated by Amtrak along the Northeast Corridor between Washington, D.C. and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It was one of the few commuter trains operated by Amtrak and operated from 1978 to 1983. == History == Service began on April 30, 1978, with funding from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the State of Maryland. Among stations reopening was Chester Transportation Center, which the Pennsylvania Railroad had closed in the 1960s.〔(Chesapeake Timetable; April 30, 1978 (Museum of Railway Timetables.org) )〕 and the Baltimore-Washington International Airport railroad station was added to the service in 1980.〔(Chesapeake Timetable; October 26, 1980 (Museum of Railway Timetables.org) )〕 On October 29, 1983, Maryland and Pennsylvania, along with a number of other Northeastern states, took control of their commuter railroads. SEPTA expanded to commuter railroads previously used by the Pennsylvania Railroad and Reading Railroad, and the "MARC" (Maryland Area Regional Commuter) service name was established.〔(MARC History on MTA website )〕 The SEPTA R2 (now the Wilmington/Newark Line) and MARC Penn Line became the replacements for the ''Chesapeake'', although no service existed between Perryville and Newark.
